Clarity Shot #45

- I don’t have time even to breathe!!! - she told me, obviously breathing

Her days were full with busy times at work, a new team, many things to figure out as part of her new role, wishes to make a good impression and start on the right foot… while life went on, complex as it was, with a kid that suddenly didn’t quite like school, and got sick often, strained relationships, no time for friends or holidays and the dooming feel of overwhelm creeping from every word she uttered.

Full with things she couldn’t afford to drop.
Full of resentment for not having any time to stop and catch her breath.
Full of frustration about “is this all life is about? never-ending struggle?”

Full of exhaustion that caused her to settle for what is easy to get through a really hard day, not on what would be better in the long run.

Full of stretching herself thin.
Full of guilt about not being able to do it all.
Full of even more guilt that her life was a hot mess right now.

Life sometimes is a hot mess, for everyone.

Not seeing it in other people because they put up an appearance of having it all figured out… makes you feel like you’re the only one struggling.

Not knowing how to ask for help makes it harder than it needs to be.

Not reaching out because you’re so busy fire-fighting… brings loneliness when you’d need a shoulder to lean on.

There are no magic fixes. Sometimes life is a hot mess.

However, it matters how we go through it and the attitude we bring on.

What would work best?

“life is all about suffering, there’s no way out, things will never get easier, easy is simply not part of my path through life” ?

“life is so hard right now that I just don’t see a way out, and I don’t know how long I can go on” ?

“life is hard right now, but everything changes; a day will come when I’ll look back wondering how I made it work, and grateful that it’s over” ?

So this week’s Clarity Shot is about learning to find the time to breathe, and asks you:

When you’re in the middle of a hot mess situation, in your life, what can you choose in terms of attitude?

✨ What can you choose, in the story you tell yourself about what’s going on?

✨ What choices will you be grateful for, when you get on the other side?

✨ What is the tiny, but powerful way in which you can catch your breath, so you give yourself a bit of care and appreciation during even the toughest days?
